The Art of the Festival Lounge: Styling Tips from the Experts

Jun 2, 2025

There’s something magical about a festival. Whether it’s a food and drink festival with some of the best nibbles in the country or an iconic music festival like Glastonbury, a festival is a melting pot of all kinds of sights, sounds, smells and tastes.

When done well, a festival lounge can be a place to escape it all for a minute, kick off the muddy boots, sit somewhere comfy, and enjoy a conversation (or some peace and quiet, if that’s what you need!).

At Lounge & Linger, we believe a festival lounge is much more than a place to sit. It’s another chance to create a meaningful experience for any festival goer that visits, but how do you create the perfect look? We’re sharing some of our favourite styling tips.

Layered Textures Create Comfort

A festival lounge should be inviting, calming and comfy. Layered textures can tick all of these boxes. Start off with rugs, vintage, mismatched or woven, and add Ottomans, low seat sofas and floor cushions in a range of textiles. The contrast and intentional mismatch will make the space feel cosy and curated.

Lighting Creates Atmosphere

Festivals don’t stop when the sun goes down, so lighting is incredibly important. From festoon lighting above to cosy lanterns in the corners and LED candles, soft, warm lighting can take your festival lounge from day to night.

Statement Pieces

Every great festival lounge needs a few key focal pieces. Whether that’s a big peacock chair or a statement retro sofa, these hero pieces bring the space together (and they make for great photo-posing opportunities, too).

Design with Intent

Design your lounge in areas, like social areas or quiet areas. Then, use different seating and rugs to divide the space, without completely separating it. This creates flow and gives guests the option to choose their vibe.

Choosing the Right Festival Furniture Hire Company

Achieving all of these styling tips relies on finding the right festival furniture hire company.

Styling a festival lounge becomes so much easier and more impactful when you work with a furniture hire company that gets it. The right partner will have a beautifully curated collection, a deep understanding of how to create atmosphere, and the logistical know-how to bring your vision to life.

At Lounge & Linger, we have designed and provided furniture for the interiors of YouTube Music’s hospitality area, behind the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury, for the last three years. This is their private hospitality area for their VIP guests. We are tasked with the complete design, styling and providing all furniture and props from Lounge & Linger. In addition, we also provide four other areas across the Glastonbury site, including the brilliant pop-up hotel sponsored by Audi.
